Today, my baby turns four months old and I cannot believe how time has flown by. When I first went on maternity leave exactly four months, and one day ago, February seemed so far away. Tomorrow, real life starts again. I go back to work and Nathan becomes a full time day care baby. No more running to get him after three hours because I miss him or he won't take his bottle and is hungry. For what I'm sure will be a horribly sad 8 hours, Nathan and I are on our own.
In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy this last day. We are going to get cake (duh) with his grandma and great aunt. I can't believe how much he's grown these past few months. Can time slow down?
(I know, I know, when did this become a baby blog?)
Running-wise, I'm exactly where I want to be at the end of these four months, if not a little bit ahead. The day I had Nathan, I had no desire to get back to running any time soon, and had no idea how long it would take to get back into the swing of things. Luckily, I got cleared after three weeks and, thanks to what I like to call the post-pregnancy blood doping phase, it all came back pretty quickly. I got three solid races under my belt during my leave, including yesterday's half marathon PR (still over the moon about that). I still need to work on my endurance, but as long as I'm able to figure out how to work full time, be a good mom to Nathan and wife to Ken, and keep my household in order- while running 40 miles per week - I think I can get there by the time the OC Marathon rolls around.
So, anyway, tomorrow I go back to real life. Stay tuned . . .
It took my guy a good couple of weeks to get acclimated to daycare. The first couple of weeks he was going 3 days a week, he didn't really settle in until he started going every day. I think it was the consistency that helped.
